Henan Provincial Traffic Safety Research Center (hereinafter referred to as "safety center") is the first professional research institute of safety production in Henan Province, which is promoted by the competent department of the industry. It fills in the blank of professional research in the field of traffic safety production in Henan Province. The center is mainly responsible for traffic safety industry policy consultation, technical standard preparation, emergency system construction, double prevention system construction, safety production standardization, highway project safety evaluation, construction safety risk assessment, safe construction site construction, disaster reduction and emergency rescue, traffic safety informatization, safety education and training, etc. The service scope covers Henan, Tianjin, Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangxi, Yunnan, Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu, Tibet and more than 10 provinces.

At present, the safety center has 2 experts enjoying subsidies from the State Council, 10 experts from the work safety expert database of the emergency management department, 32 experts from Henan work safety expert committee, and 71 personnel with business-related qualification certificates (56 safety assessors, 61 registered safety engineers, 7 registered consultants, and 9 registered cost Engineers). In recent years, the safety center has successively won 2 first prizes, 1 second prize and 6 third prizes of Henan province safety science and technology achievement award, 4 local standards and 15 software copyrights. Three technological innovation projects have been selected into the "key technology and innovation projects for prevention and control of major accidents in production safety" of emergency management department. The safety center has been invited to participate in the accident investigation of Henan provincial emergency management department and Henan provincial department of transportation, the drafting and revision of local safety standards, and academic exchanges of industry associations. In order to strengthen the technical exchange, the safety center has established good communication and cooperation relations with the Academy of Sciences of the Ministry of transport, the Academy of Highway Sciences of the Ministry of transport, Tongji University, Chang'an University, Chongqing Jiaotong University, etc.

Since the establishment of the safety center, it has successively completed more than 20000 kilometers of hidden danger investigation work of ordinary national and provincial trunk roads in Henan Province, 56 highway safety evaluation projects, 92 construction safety risk assessment projects, and 62 consultation projects on the construction of dual prevention system and safety production standardization in the transportation industry. The guidelines for the construction of dual prevention system for road transportation, waterway transportation, expressway operation, highway and waterway engineering construction, postal express and other enterprises in Henan Province compiled by the safety center have been issued and implemented by the competent departments of the industry. The "dual prevention system information system" and "enterprise safety risk pre warning management and control platform (first prize of Henan safety science and technology achievement award)" developed by the safety center have been widely used in the practice of safety production management and control in Henan Province, and achieved good results.
